Post-Abortion Care in Burkina Faso - Additional Studies
A postabortion care study conducted between 2012 and 2014 at 56 health facilities with 6,316 patients found that manual vacuum aspiration was the most commonly used uterine evacuation method (69.4%), followed by misoprostol (26.9%). The study showed that digital evacuation (digital curage) has not completely disappeared: at least 3.6% of patients were treated with this method (Kiemtoré et al, 2016).
A study of post-abortion care conducted between 2016 and 2017 found that less than half (42.8%) of primary care facilities could provide basic PAC, while 75% of referral facilities could provide comprehensive PAC (Campaore et al, 2022).
